18-year-old boy kills ex-Niger Permanent Secretary

The operatives of the Niger State Police Command have arrested an 18-year-old suspect, Fatiyah Abdulhakeem, in connection with the murder of the Permanent Secretary of the State Government, Adamu Jagaba, in Minna, the state capital.

The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed this on Sunday, December 8, 2024.

Abiodun disclosed that the incident occurred when the suspect trespassed into the block industry owned by Jagaba located along the Eastern bye-pass in Minna, and attacked the deceased at about 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 7.

He said Jagaba was stabbed severally in the head and neck and hit multiple times with a stapler in the office.

Abiodun said the 18-year-old boy then made away with the deceased Toyota Camry vehicle with Reg. No. MNA 61 AE.

He said the police operatives visited the scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.

According to him, following the circulation of the vehicle’s details to all police points and formations within the state, the Police Crack Squad intercepted the vehicle along Bosso Estate road in Minna at about 7 p.m. on the same day.

The police spokesman said Abdulhakeem was arrested, adding that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to being Jagaba’s car painter and conspired with some of the deceased workers to carry out the crime.

Abiodun added that Abdulhakeem also mentioned the names of his gang members, who are at large.

Abiodun stated that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the other gang members involved in the crime, adding that the suspect would be charged to court for prosecution immediately after the investigation.
