2 die in Osun accident

No fewer than two persons have lost their lives in an accident that occurred on Ife-Ondo Road in Osun State.

Confirming the incident on Sunday, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC ), Osun State Command, Henry Benamesia, said the accident occurred in the Ifetedo area of the state after a vehicle with number plate BWR 909 SD suddenly lost control due to excessive speed.

Benamesia disclosed that two persons lost their lives in the accident, adding that their remains have been taken away by their relatives present at the scene of the incident.

He said: “The rescue operations retrieve a crash vehicle that plunged into a river and handed over to the Ifetedo Police Station.

“Other sister security agencies were also present during the operations to offer assistance in order to maintain law and order.”

The FRSC official enjoined motorists to desist from excessive speeding, saying it could lead to loss of lives and properties.

“I want to appeal to all road users to be safety conscious at all times and drive defensively to safe lives,” Benamesia said.
