Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has reportedly been snubbed by Jigawa State Governor, Badaru Abubakar, and other important personalities earlier scheduled to meet with the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant.

The Nigeria’s number two citizen was in Jigawa to meet with APC delegates as part of his nationwide consultation ahead of the APC’s primary election.

It was gathered that Governor Badaru and his deputy, Alhaji Umar Namadi, were out of Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, during the Vice President’s visit to the state.

Osinbajo could not also meet with the Emir of Dutse, Alh. Nuhu Muhammadu Sunusi, as the traditional ruler was out of town.

It was gathered also that many in the ranks of APC leadership in Jigawa absconded from meeting with the Vice President.

The state deputy governor, who was supposed to represent Governor Badaru was said to have travelled to Abuja for his screening as governorship aspirant.

The Star reports that Governor Badaru had also purchased APC expression of interest and nomination forms to contest the 2023 presidential election.

VP Osinbajo met with the APC delegates at Three Star Hotel in Dutse before leaving the state.

Speaking to newsmen after the meeting, Osinbajo said: “Obviously, all the issues that we discussed are ones that concern the country very significantly.

“The meeting is extremely fruitful, the delegates all understood where we were coming from and what we will be doing in a few years ahead.

“It’s very exciting meeting, all of us are very happy that we are able to have engagement.”
