Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, will officially declare his intention to contest for President in the 2023 general election on Wednesday.
Atiku will run for the number one seat under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
A statement issued by Atiku’s media office on Sunday, a copy of which was made available to The Star, indicated that the former Vice President will declare his intention to contest in the 2023 presidential election at the International Conference Center, Abuja, on Wednesday.
“The event which will have in attendance Atiku Abubakar’s friends, associates, political leaders, party faithful and supporters will take place at the International Conference Center, Abuja at 11 am.

“His official declaration kick starts the former Vice President’s participation in the race for the presidential ticket of the PDP ahead of the next year’s general election,” the statement added.
It would be recalled that a group, North East Business Forum, last Thursday, purchased the PDP nomination form for the fomer Vice President, urging him to run for President in the 2023 general election.
Atiku, the PDP presidential candidate in the 2019 election, was the main challenger of President Muhammadu Buhari.
