2023: Fayose picks PDP presidential nomination form

The former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has obtained his expression of interest and nomination forms to vie for the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2023 general election.

Fayose obtained the forms at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday.

He became the 14th aspirant to pick the PDP presidential nomination forms.

He had recently announced his ambition to contest for President in 2023.

“May I also state clearly that I will be seeking the ticket of the PDP to contest the next presidential election,” Fayose said in a statement last Thursday.

The immediate past governor of Ekiti State, however, debunked the reports that he had endorsed the former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, for President on the platform of the PDP.

Fayose said the report credited to him that he had endorsed Obi and zoning of the Presidency to the South-East is false.

On Tuesday, the former governor announced his withdrawal from the PDP zoning committee.

He announced his withdrawal via a letter dated April 5, 2022, and addressed to the chairman of the committee, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State.

Fayose, in the letter, cited his ambition to run for President in the 2023 general election as the reason for his withdrawal from the PDP zoning committee.

Those, who have obtained the PDP presidential nomination forms, include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Senate Presidents, Bukola Saraki, Anyim Pius Anyim; Governors Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, and Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State.

Others are former Governors Peter Obi (Anambra State), Ayodele Fayose (Ekiti State), Ovation Publisher, Dele Momodu; Dr. Nwachukwu Anakwenze, Diana Oliver, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, and Alhaji Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
