The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will on Friday (today) hold a crucial meeting with the leadership of the 18 registered political parties under the auspices of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC).
It was gathered that the meeting has been scheduled to hold at the INEC Headquarters in Abuja at 3.30pm
The meeting, it was learnt, would dwell on the ongoing primaries for the 2023 general election.
The two major political parties in the country, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have fixed their presidential primaries for this weekend.

While PDP presidential primaries will hold on May 28 and 29, 2022, APC’s primaries has been fixed to hold from May 29 to May 30.
The demand of parties seeking the review of the timetable and schedule of activities for the 2023 general election would also be discussed at the meeting.
However, it could not be ascertained if INEC would, after today’s meeting, accede to the demands of the political parties by adjusting the timetable.
IPAC had earlier called on INEC to extend the schedule of activities for political party primaries by two months to enable them to have enough time for primary and post-primary elections crisis resolution.
National Chairman of IPAC, Engr. Yabagi Yusuf Sani, made the appeal in Abuja during an interactive session with INEC as part of activities toward the 2023 general election.
