Recently-pardoned former Plateau State Governor, Joshua Dariye, is set to throw his ring into the senatorial contest for Plateau Central in the 2023 general election, The Star has learnt.
It would be recalled that prior to his conviction, Dariye, won the senatorial election to represent Plateau Central in 2011 on the platform of the Labour Party.
Dariye alongside former Taraba State Governor, Jolly Nyame, and three others were granted a presidential pardon by Buhari sequel to the Council of State’s recommendation.
He served for only four years out of his 10-year jail term after his conviction on N1.16 billion fraud.

However, sources in the Plateau State chapter of the LP disclosed that arrangements have been made to receive Dariye from Abuja to pick the party’s senatorial form.
Dariye, aged 64, governed Plateau State between 1999 and 2007
A Labour Party official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “Yes, it is true that he (Dariye) will be running for a senate seat. We are making arrangements for him to come from Abuja for the senatorial declaration.”
According to the source, the former governor would boost the prospect of LP gubernatorial candidate, Patrick Dakum, in Plateau State.
Efforts to reach the LP chairperson and other top officials in Plateau State, Hon Grace Zamfara, proved abortive.
