Some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-West have scheduled a meeting with the party’s presidential aspirants from the zone.
It was gathered that the meeting slated for Lagos State Government House in Marina, Lagos State on Friday, was convened by the former interim national chairman of the APC, Chief Bisi Akande; former Ogun State Governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba; and other stakeholders of the ruling party.
Some of the presidential aspirants expected at the meeting include Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Lagos State Governor and national leader of APC, Bola Tinubu; Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; immediate past governor of Ogun State and serving senator, Ibikunle Amosun.
Others listed as participants at the meeting are Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; Deputy Senate Leader, Prof. Ajayi Boroffice; and governors elected on the platform of the APC in the South-West.

If Tinubu and Osinbajo attend the meeting, it will be the first time the two presidential hopefuls will be coming face to face publicly since the latter declared his intention to contest the 2023 presidential election.
Osinbajo is widely regarded as Tinubu’s protege and his entry into the race, after Tinubu had declared his intention to run for the position of President, has raised political temperature across the country, especially in the South-West.
Other aspirants, who have declared their intentions to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023 include Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige; former Governors Rochas Okorocha (Imo), and Sen. Orji Kalu (Abia).
Others are Governors Yahaya Bello (Kogi), and David Umahi (Ebonyi).
