No fewer than three traditional rulers in Ori Ire Local Government Area of Oyo State have been confirmed dead in an accident in the state.
It was gathered that the traditional rulers – Olodogbo of Odogbo, Onibowula of Bowula, and Alayetoro of Ayetoro – died in the accident which occurred on Friday, December 1, 2023.
The monarchs were said to have been going to a social event in a neighbouring town when the accident occurred along the Ogbomoso-Oyo expressway.

Confirming the incident, the Oyo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Joshua Adekanye, said two of the monarchs died on the spot while the third traditional ruler died at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso.
Adekanye disclosed that the accident was a head-on collision between private and commercial vehicles along the expressway, adding that three survivors are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
The FRSC official said the corpses of the victims have been deposited at the morgue.
