A four-year-old girl has drowned in a well in Kofar Waika, Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State.
The girl was said to have drowned in a well adjacent to Karmawi Mosque in the area.
The residents of the area, through Masallacin Karmawi, was said to have reported the drowning of the girl to Kano Fire Service who made efforts to rescue the girl before she eventually gave up the ghost
The Public Relations Officer of Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, confirmed the incident via a statement on Tuesday.
Abdullahi noted that the incident occurred on Monday afternoon.
“We received an emergency call at about 02:05 p.m. from one Alkasim Ibrahim and we sent our rescue team to the scene at about 02:20p.m,” he said.
Abdullahi added that the girl who was brought out of the well unconscious was later confirmed dead.
He said the little girl’s corpse has been handed over to the ward head of Kofar Waika, Isma’ila Yusuf for burial.
The Fire Service spokesperson said the incident was being investigated.
