A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Kano has remanded a 40-year-old man, Lawan Kala, for raping a 10-year-old girl in the state.
The prosecutor, Asma’u Ado told the Magistrate that Kala allegedly took advantage of the minor to defile her.
The suspect, a resident of Burji village in the Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State, was identified as the neighbour of the victim.
Ado told the court that the defendant “lured and deceived the minor into an uncompleted building in Burji and had carnal knowledge of her.”

According to the First Information Report, the relative of the victim reported Kala to the police in Doguwa Local Government.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
The prosecutor further pleaded with the court to give another date to tender witnesses before the Magistrate
The Magistrate, Mustapha Datti, however, granted the plea and ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional facility.
Datti, therefore, adjourned the case until August 26, 2022.
