The Vice-Chancellor of Redeemer’s University, Ede in Osun State, Prof. Anthony Akinlo, has disclosed that 44 of its graduating students bagged First Class Honours.

The Vice-Chancellor, who made the disclosure at a press conference in Ede on Monday, September 4, 2023, said 290 of the students bagged Second Class (Upper Division), representing 38.7 per cent, and 264 with Second Class (Lower Division), representing 35.2 per cent.

Another 74 graduating students were awarded with Third Class, representing 9.8 per cent and three with Pass, representing 0.4 per cent.

Akinlo stated that three students from the Nursing Sciences and Physiotherapy would graduate with a Pass with Distinction, representing 0.4 per cent, 58 bagged Pass with Credit, representing 7.7 per cent, and six with a Pass, representing 0.8 per cent.

In the Diploma category, Akinlo said three students bagged Upper Credit Division, representing 0.4 per cent, and five with Lower Credit, representing 0.7 per cent.

He noted that Redeemer’s University had graduated 6,995 students since inception, while a total number of 750 students would be awarded with degrees during the current convocation.

The VC said the university had expanded its academic programmes from 26 to 54, while it had successfully accredited 32 programmes with 27 receiving full accreditation and five with interim accreditation.

Akinlo said the university’s African Centre of Excellence for the Genomics of Infectious Diseases (ACEGID) has continued to make impact in its core mandate of combating the challenges posed by infectious diseases and other public health-related issues.

He, however, thanked the Visitor to Redeemer’s University, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) for his support to the university.

“He has graciously contributed to the development process of the university,” the VC said.
