It would be recalled that Hushpuppi was arrested in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in June 2020 alongside 12 accomplices over allegations of hacking, impersonation, scamming, banking fraud, and identity theft.

He was said to have defrauded a U.S. law firm of about $40 million.

The popular internet fraudster was said to have illegally transferred $14.7 million from a foreign financial institution and targeted to steal $124 million from an English football club.

He was also accused of an extensive fraud scheme that robbed his victims of their money in the U.S, Qatar, and other countries.

The socialite was later extradited to the United States where he was charged with fraud and money laundering.

On Monday, Hushpuppi was sentenced to 11 years imprisonment.

The US District Judge Otis D. Wright II also ordered the 40-year-old convict to pay $1.7 million in restitution to two fraud victims.
