Nine people have been confirmed dead while 20 others were injured after Boko Haram terrorists detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Kawuri in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
Confirming the incident on Thursday morning, the Borno State Commissioner of Police, Yusuf Lawan, disclosed that the incident occurred in a marketplace at about 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
Lawan said response teams were quickly dispatched to the scene to evacuate the injured victims for treatment while the corpses were taken to the Primary Health Care Centre.

He noted that the Police Explosive Ordnance Device (EOD) team was deployed to the scene to protect the area from further bombs.
The police commissioner said normalcy was restored to the area, adding that joint security teams were on cautious alerts.
