A former Kano State Governor and national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Friday, received a thunderous welcome by thousands of his supporters amid mass defection to his new party in Kano State.
Kwankwaso, along with some NNPP returnees, including the former Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly, Alhassan Rurum; former Adviser to President Buhari on National Assembly, Abdurrahman Sumaila; and former Director-General of Tinubu Support Group, Abdulmumin Jibrin; arrived in Kano in preparation to receive former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, on Saturday.

Sources close to both Kwankwaso and Shekarau disclosed to The Star that the erstwhile governors of the Center of Commerce are teeming “to salvage the state from misgovernance of the ruling APC”.
Kwankwaso’s NNPP is witnessing mass defection into its fold as both PDP and APC are battling internal conflicts in Kano State.
No fewer than 16 lawmakers of the State House of Assembly have so far pitched their tents with the NNPP in the state.
