With the emergence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), governors who participated in the primaries are plotting their next moves.
Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto is bidding for a shot at the Senate while Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi is retrieving his governorship ticket.
Governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers) and Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom) have not decided on what next.
Wike may likely opt for the Senate seat while Emmanuel is one of those being tipped as Atiku’s running mate.
Impeccable sources told The Star that Tambuwal, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, will contest for the senatorial seat on PDP platform.
Sources in Bauchi Government House said Governor Mohammed is retrieving his governorship ticket being held by the former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barr. Ibrahim Kassim.
Sources told The Star that there was understanding that Kassim would hold the governorship ticket in trust for Governor Mohammed.

The same scenario played out in Sokoto State during the 2019 elections when Governor Tambuwal lost the presidential ticket of the PDP to Atiku.
Tambuwal returned to Sokoto to pick the governorship ticket being held in trust for him.
