Some governors elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are currently meeting with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Although the details of the meeting could not be immediately ascertained, The Star gathered that it may not be unconnected with the move to convince Wike to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for APC ahead of the 2023 general election.
Those meeting with Wike behind closed doors are Governors Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), and Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos).
Others include Ekiti State governor-elect, Biodun Oyebanji; former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose; among others.
Speculations have heightened recently that Governor Wike may dump the PDP after losing the presidential ticket to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

The APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, was also said to have met with Wike in France last week, a report denied by Tinubu’s media office.
Tinubu, according to a statement issued by his spokesman, Tunde Rahman, holds Wike in high esteem and would meet the Rivers State Governor when the need arises.
The governor came second in the PDP’s presidential primaries with 237 votes, while Atiku emerged as the party’s standard-bearer having polled 371 votes.
Atiku later chose Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election.
