The Katsina State Police Command has reintroduced a ban on the movement of motorcycles across the state, as part of efforts to tackle the resurgence of bandit attacks in the state.
The reintroduction of the ban was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, Gambo Isah.
Isah said the development followed a recent increase in the number of attacks and threats by terrorists and other criminals using motorcycles.
The police lifted the ban four months ago to temporarily ease movement during the Ramadan period.
The police spokesperson stated: “I am directed to draw the attention of the general public that the ban on the movement of motorcycles from 2200hrs to 0600hrs in Katsina city is still in force. While in the Frontline LGAs from 1800hrs to 0600hrs.

“It was temporarily lifted to ease movement during Ramadan. The enforcement became necessary because of the recent threat to security caused by terrorists and other criminals riding on motorcycles.”
Katsina is one of the states in the North-West region worst hit by banditry where thousands of people have been killed and millions displaced.
The terrorist gangs mostly use motorcycles to launch attacks on rural and urban communities, abduct innocent residents and take them into the forest.
