There was pandemonium in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, on Saturday morning as police operatives dispersed and teargassed scores of supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, in the state capital.
It was gathered that the supporters of the OBI-dient movement, who gathered for the one-million-march for the LP presidential candidate, were dispersed by the police officers at the Pastoral Centre in Abakaliki.
It was further learnt that the police arrested some people at the venue.

“We have gathered here this morning for our peaceful March, all of a sudden, the police came and started tear-gassing us and arresting our people.
“They said we can’t hold the march, because Governor David Umahi asked them to stop us, that we can’t hold it. About four of our colleagues have been arrested. We need help here,” one of the supporters, Steve Ugama, said.
