Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has urged the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to the state to set performance targets for themselves during the service year.
El-Rufai gave the admonition at the closing of the orientation course for 2022 Batch ‘C’ Stream 1 Corps members in Kaduna on Tuesday.
The governor, who was represented by Kaduna State Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, Hajiya Hafsat Baba, said the performance target should be in the area of community development and entrepreneurship to enable them do self-assessment at the end of the service year.
He stated that this will also enable them to focus on contributing towards breaking down of barriers to rapid socio-economic development in the state.
Governor El-Rufai said NYSC has touched many lives in Kaduna State and the country at large, urging the corps members to “ensure high performance at their personal and various places of primary assignment to ensure maximum contribution to the development of the state and the nation.”

“In Kaduna State, we are ever ready to support the NYSC towards maximum realisation of its goals and objectives.
“Our expectation is therefore that you will reciprocate the gesture by working assiduously towards the maximum realisation of set goals and objectives for further development of the state,” he said.
The governor also urged the corps members to initiate and execute community development projects so as to leave lasting legacies.
El-Rufai implored all stakeholders and employers to pay necessary attention to the welfare of corps members and support them throughout the service year.
On his part, the NYSC coordinator in the state, Odoba Abel, thanked the corps members for the discipline and commitment they exhibited during the orientation course.
Abel further enjoined them to exhibit similar conduct in their places of primary assignment and adapt quickly to the culture and customs of their host communities.
