Former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu, has been sworn in as the President of Nigeria.
Tinubu was sworn in after he took the oath of office administered by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kayode Ariwoola, at the Eagle Square in Abuja on Monday, May 29, 2023.
Tinubu was sworn in the presence of his wife, Oluremi, children, President Muhammadu Buhari, First Lady Aisha and her son, Yusuf Buhari.
After the swearing-in, the new president and his predecessor witnessed the lowering of national flags and fixing of new ones.
Thereafter, former President Buhari left the Eagle Square while Tinubu took the first salute as the President of Nigeria and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.
He later proceeded on with the inspection of guards as he was driven round the venue.

The ceremony also featured air display, cultural troupe displays, and gun salute/national salute.
Others at the event were Senate President, Ahmad Lawan; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; outgoing Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, members of the outgoing Federal Executive Council, and members of the National Assembly.
There were also former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (rtd); former President Goodluck Jonathan; his wife, Patience; the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress National (APC), Abdullahi Adamu; Service Chiefs; and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba; among others.
World leaders who attended the ceremony included President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana, Macky Sall of Senegal, Paul Kagame of Rwanda, George Weah of Liberia, Mohamed Bazoum of Niger, and Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa.
Others were Evariste Ndayishimiye of Burundi, Mahamat Deby, the Transitional President of Chad, Adama Barrow of The Gambia, Paul Biya of Cameroon, and Sahle-Work Zewde of Ethiopia, among others.
