The governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), known as Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), says it is working with the Federal Government to address the current hardship being faced by Nigerians, following the removal of fuel subsidy and the increase in petrol pump price.
The PGF chairman and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, said this while speaking with journalists at the end of the governors’ closed-door meeting in Abuja on Wednesday night.
Uzodimma described the meeting as successful, saying it discussed ongoings on national issues.
The governor said: “The current hardship occasioned by the price increase on both food, petroleum products, and cost of living is being addressed.
“The sub-national government is working with the Federal Government to address the development.”

He added that the National Executive Council (NEC) would further discuss on how to address the development to lessen the burden on the citizens when it meets.
The PGF chairman assured that the APC governors would effectively utilise their federal allocation in the best interest of the people, adding that they would also ensure that the country’s economy was protected and its sovereign margin was not tampered with in the international market but improved upon.
Uzodimma said the governors received in good faith, the recent resignation of Sen. Abdullahi Adamu and Sen. Iyola Omisore as the party’s National Chairman and National Secretary, respectively, saying their resignation was voluntary.
He added that the governors respect their actions and commend their wisdom, saying they had done well and served the party well.
“We now have an acting National Chairman and acting National Secretary,” Uzodimma said, adding that contrary to speculations, the APC is united and has no crisis within its ranks and file.
Some of the governors at the meeting were Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Umar Bago (Niger), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq (Kwara), Fr. Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Uba Sani (Kaduna); Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), and Dikko Radda (Katsina), among others.
