Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday, September 4, 2023, sent a new list of cabinet member-nominees to the State House of Assembly for confirmation.
The latest development comes a few weeks after the House confirmed 22 and rejected 17 out of the 39 nominees earlier sent by Sanwo-Olu.
The Clerk of the House, Olalekan Onafeko, who read the governor’s letter during plenary on Monday, said the former Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, and ex-Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotosho, who were earlier rejected by the lawmakers were included in the new list.
Others were former Commissioners Olalere Odusote (Energy), Cecilia Dada (Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation), Sam Egube (Economic Planning and Budget).
Also nominated were Folashade Ambrose-Medem, Yomi Olorunyomi, Rotimi Fashola, Mosopefolu George, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, Barakat Bakare, and Olumide Oluyinka.

Five commissioner-nominees rejected – Folashade Adefisayo (Education), Solape Hammond (SDG), Aramide Adeyoye (Works and Infrastructure), Lekan Fatodu, and Rotimi Ogunwuyi – were replaced by Afolabi Tajudeen, Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, Tolani Sule Akibu, Yekini Agbaje, Iyabode Ayoola, and Sola Giwa.
The Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa, directed the screening committee, led by the Chief Whip, Fatai Mojeed, to reconvene and start screening the nominees on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
Obasa also directed the committee to report back to the House on Thursday, September 7.
