President Bola Tinubu has appointed a versatile journalist, Mr. Ali Muhammed Ali, as the Managing Director / CEO of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The President also appointed former spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and journalist, Mr. Lanre Issa-Onilu as the new Director-General /CEO of the National Orientation Agency (NOA).
Ali and Issa-Onilu’s appointments are parts of eight appointments approved by the President on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
Tinubu approved the appointments of eight Chief Executive Officers of parastatals and agencies under the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
The president sacked six CEOs while he renewed the appointments of two others.
Ali takes over from Mr. Buki Ponle as NAN MD while Issa-Onilu takes over from Dr. Garba Abari whose appointment as NOA’s CEO has been terminated.

Also, Mr. Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos’s appointment was renewed as Director-General/CEO of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) while Dr. Muhammed Bulama is the Director-General / CEO of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).
Bulama takes over from Dr. Mansur Liman as FRCN boss.
Mr. Charles Ebuebu is the Director-General / CEO of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC). Ebuebu takes over from Bello Shehu Ilelah whose appointment was terminated.
Mr. Jibrin Baba Ndace has been appointed as the Director-General /CEO of the Voice of Nigeria (VON). Ndace replaces Osita Okechukwu at VON.
The president also reappointed Dr. Lekan Fadolapo as Director-General / CEO of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON).
Mr. Dili Ezughah was appointed as Executive Secretary /CEO of the Nigerian Press Council (NPC).
Ezughan takes over from Mr. Francis Nwosu.
Presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement on Thursday stated that the appointments take immediate effect.
“The President tasks the newly entrusted leadership in these important sub-sectors to innovate and create new opportunities for Nigerians to leverage upon through the effective reform of these key institutions of government which function to unify our people, reshape mindsets, and showcase this great nation to the rest of the world,” Ngelale said.
