The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has been released from the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja after meeting his bail conditions.
It was gathered that Emefiele was released on Friday, December 22, 2023.
His release was confirmed by the spokesperson for the Kuje Correctional Centre, Adamu Duza, on Saturday.
Duza said: “He (Emefiele) has met his bail conditions; hence he has no reason to remain in our facility.
“He met his bail condition and was released at about 2 p.m. yesterday (Friday).”
A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court had, on November 22, granted Emefiele bail in the sum of N300 million.

Emefiele was accused of using his position to confer a corrupt advantage on Sa’adatu Yaro, a staff member of the CBN by awarding a contract for the procurement of 43 vehicles worth N1.2 billion between 2018 and 2020.
The presiding judge, Justice Hamza Muazu, after granting Emefiele bail, ordered the former CBN boss to produce two sureties in like sum.
Justice Muazu ordered that the sureties must have certificates of occupancy and titles of properties within the Maitama District.
The former CBN Governor was also mandated to deposit all his travel documents with the registrar of the court and must remain within the Abuja Municipal Council.
Emefiele was subsequently remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending when he meets the bail conditions.
