The former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has enjoined Nigerians, particularly the youths, to leave the country for abroad if they strongly desire a 9 to 5 job and safety.
A 9 to 5 job is a work arrangement where employees report to workplaces at 9 a.m. and leave at 5 p.m.
Speaking in an interview with Arise Television on Saturday, January 20, 2024, Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State, however, urged Nigerians to continue living in the country if they are looking for opportunity.
He said: “I have always discouraged people who want to leave the country. I say 9 to 5 is the job you can get. You may not get the opportunity we get in Nigeria. You can just wake up one day and you are already a minister or a governor. It just happens.

“If you are looking for opportunity, please stay back in Nigeria but if you are looking for 9 to 5 job, safety, and others, you can leave the country.”
Amaechi added that his fear of God stands him out from among other elites and politicians in the country.
Asked about his political career, Amaechi, who contested the presidential primaries of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside President Bola Tinubu and former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, refused to give a response.
Amaechi served as a minister from 2015 to 2022 in the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
He resigned in May 2022 and contested the APC presidential primaries which was won by Tinubu.
