A former Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, has died at the age of 72.
It was gathered that Onu, a former governor of Abia State, died in an undisclosed hospital in Nigeria after a brief illness on Thursday, April 11, 2024.

He served as a minister under the administration of immediate past President Muhammadu Buhari.
It would be recalled that Onu, who was born on December 1, 1951, was among aspirants who vied for the presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2023 general election.
He resigned as a minister to contest the APC presidential primary election in November 2022.
