The Lagos State coroner inquest instituted to unravel the cause of the death of Sylvester Oromoni, a 12-year-old student of Dowen College in the Lekki area of the state, has revealed that he died a natural death.

The coroner, Magistrate Mikhail Kadiri, made this known in a judgement delivered on Monday, April 15, 2024.

Kadiri, who said Oromoni’s death was avoidable, attributed the demise to parental and doctors negligence.

Kadiri said: “Based on the foregoing it is clear that the deceased health deteriorated in doctor’s care.

“PW3 (doctor) did not take proper care of the deceased. PW3 completely abandoned the deceased for a period of more than 32 hours.

“The deceased’s death was an avoidable one but for the negligence of the parents and doctor, they didn’t take him to the hospital until the day he died on November 30, 2021.

“The deceased went through an avoidable and excruciating pain and made to suffer needlessly.”

He, however, commiserated with the family and their friends.

“I pray that God comfort you for this great loss and make things easy for your family,” Kadiri added.

Oromoni died on November 30, 2021, as a result of alleged bully and poisoning in the school.
