The operatives of the Kano State Police Command have arrested a notorious armed robber, Hassan Iliya, and recovered N4.9 million from him in the state.
This was disclosed via a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.
Kiyawa said the police also recovered two AK-47 rifles with 47 rounds of live ammunition from the suspect, adding that the arrest was a significant breakthrough in the fight against crime in Kano State.
He noted that the arrest was made possible after a resident of Yandadi village in Kunchi Local Government Area of Kano State reported being attacked and robbed of N15,000 by armed robbers at about 2 a.m. on Monday, August 5.
Kiyawa added that a directive by the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Salma Dogo, to a team of detectives to apprehend the suspects led to the arrest of the notorious armed robber.
