A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Jos, the Plateau State capital, has sentenced a 22-year-old man, Arron Garba, to 18 months imprisonment for stealing aluminium windows from a church.
The Magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced Garba after he pleaded guilty to theft on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
The prosecution counsel, Inspector Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at the Laranto Police Station by the complainant, Garba Nanvan, on June 5.

Gokwat said the convict broke into the church with the help of his friend now at large and stole the windows valued at N100,000.
The offence, according to him, is punishable under the Plateau State Penal Code Law.
The magistrate, therefore, sentenced Garba, a tailor, to 18 months imprisonment with a fine option of N50,000.
He also ordered the convict to pay compensation of N100,000.
