The operatives of the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have prevented a robbery attack on the Iwo-Ibadan road and retrieved a stolen vehicle from robbers in the Onibu-Eja area of the state.

The Osun NSCDC boss, Michael Adaralewa, disclosed this in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, ASC Kehinde Adeleke, on Sunday, October 13, 2024.

Adaralewa said a four-man gang of armed robbers invaded a house in the Onibu-Eja community at 3:25 a.m. on Sunday and stole a vehicle at gunpoint from a family.

He stated: “Immediately after the gang fled, community members promptly alerted the NSCDC state command for assistance.

“The officers of the command, while on patrol, swiftly responded and engaged the suspects in a gun duel. Overpowered by superior firepower, the suspects fled, abandoning the stolen vehicle.

“The recovered Toyota Corolla has a chassis number of 1NXBU40E49Z005008 and registration number KWL911TC, Abuja.

“The vehicle is currently in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Osun command. A discreet investigation is underway to apprehend the suspects and bring them to justice.”

The Osun NSCDC boss commended the officers’ swift response and bravery in thwarting the armed attack.

He also commended the public for providing timely information to the command.

Adaralewa further assured that the NSCDC would continue to justify the trust placed in the corps by the public.

Adaralewa, however, warned individuals with criminal intentions to reform or face the full force of the law.
