Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has ordered all the state-owned tertiary institutions in the state to make mandatory, the annual convocation of their graduands.
Kefas issued the order at the combined convocation ceremony of the 1994 to 2023 graduands of the Taraba State College of Education Zing on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
The government condemned the idea of delaying the convocation of graduands by institutions, adding that he would query any head of institutions that would henceforth delay convocation.
He said his administration would develop the capacity of the institution by retraining and training all teachers in Taraba State.
Kefas also vowed to deal with any officials who were sabotaging his free and compulsory education policy.
Kefas said: “I want to make it clear today (Saturday) that I can tolerate any unwholesome conduct anywhere but not in education.

“I congratulate you the graduands and I charge you to be good ambassadors of the institution where ever you go.”
The Provost of the college, Prof. Ejika Sambo, said the college was convocated 19,700 graduands across various departments and courses.
Sambo disclosed that the college which has 70 lecturers with doctorate degrees was running National Certificate in Education (NCE) and degree programmes simultaneously.
The Provost stated that all courses were duly accredited by the relevant authorities in the college.
Sambo thanked the governor for his support in ensuring the accreditation of all the programmes in the college.
He further assured that the college would maintain its capacity in the training of teachers.
The college was established in 1978 in the then Gongola State.
