The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted sunshine and dust haze across the country from Monday to Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
NiMet made this known via its weather outlook released on Sunday, November 24.
The agency predicted slight dust haze in the northern region with localised visibility of 2km to 5km in the region on Monday.
It stated: “In the North Central region, sunny skies in a hazy atmosphere are expected over the region throughout the forecast period.
“In the southern region, sunny skies with patches of clouds are anticipated with prospects of thunderstorms with light rains expected over parts of Cross River, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom States during the afternoon/evening hours.”
NiMet also forecast moderate dust haze with localised visibility of less than 1,000m in the northern region on Tuesday.
The agency envisaged slight dust haze throughout the forecast period in the North Central region.
It anticipated sunny skies in the southern region with patches of clouds with prospects of afternoon and evening thunderstorms.
NiMet predicted light rains in parts of Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom States.

NiMet added: “On Wednesday, In the northern region, moderate dust haze with localised visibility of less than 1,000m is anticipated over the region throughout the forecast period.
“In the North Central region, slight dust haze with localised visibility of 2km to 5km is anticipated over the region throughout the forecast period.
“In the southern region, sunny skies with patches of clouds are anticipated with prospects of afternoon and evening thunderstorms with light rains expected over parts of Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom States.
“Dust particles are in suspension, public should take necessary precaution and people with asthmatic health conditions and other respiratory issues should be cautious of the present weather condition.”
The agency also urged the public to take adequate precautions, saying strong winds might precede rains in areas where thunderstorms are likely to occur.
It stated: “Adhere to safety advisories issued by relevant authorities. Airline operators are advised to get airport-specific weather reports (flight documentation) from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.
“Residents are advised to stay informed through weather updates from NiMet.”
