The abducted former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) of the Ekiti State University (EKSU) in Ado-Ekiti, Prof. Femi Olaofe, has been found dead.
The Star had reported that Olaofe was kidnapped by gunmen on July 10, 2024.
Olaofe, a native of Are-Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State, was a Professor of Industrial Chemistry before his recent retirement from EKSU.
Confirming the abduction of the former DVC, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Adeniran Akinwale, on July 12, disclosed that Prof. Olaofe was kidnapped quietly from his house.
However, Akinwale, on Wednesday, July 31, said the former DVC was found dead, adding that the police have arrested some suspects in connection with Olaofe’s death.

The police commissioner said: “Professor Olaofe has been found dead and we are doing everything possible to exhume the body for burial.
“However, we have arrested many people over circumstances surrounding the incident. We suspect insider involvement, as the security man employed by the professor was the one who planned it.
“The gunmen kidnapped the man along with him so that we would not suspect. In the process of rescuing him, we have arrested some people. I can’t say much about the security guard, but at the appropriate time, we will brief the public.”
