Nasarawa deputy governor

The abducted former deputy governor of Nasarawa State, Onje Gye-Wado, has regained freedom.

Gye-Wado, who is also the former Dean of the Faculty of Law, Nasarawa State University, was kidnapped during an attack on Gwagi village in Wamba Local Government Area of the state in the early hours of Friday, April 7.

His abductors later demanded N70 million for his release.

Confirming his release on Monday, April 10, the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed that the former deputy governor was released on Sunday at about 9 p.m.

“He was released at about 9 p.m. yesterday (Sunday) due to sustained pressure from the search and rescue team. No ransom was paid,” the police spokesperson said.
