Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has been named by Leadership Newspaper as the ‘Leadership Governor of the Year 2022’.
In a letter of official notification and invitation to the annual Leadearship Conference and Award, addressed the o the governor and dated November 28, Abiodun was named as the winner of the award “for maintaining a steady pace of development and for execution of people-oriented projects across Ogun State, resisting the temptations of abandoning uncompleted projects initiated by your predecessor who did everything possible to thwart your ambition”
The letter signed by the Senior Vice Chairman/Editor-in-Chief of the Leadership newspaper, Azubuike Ishekwene, read in part: “On behalf of Leadership Group, I have the pleasure to convey to you the decision of our Nomination and Selection Committee which met for this purpose to choose you as the Leadership Governor of the Year 2022.

“Amid several nominees with excellent credentials, you have been selected for this prestigious award for maintaining a steady pace of development, execution of people-oriented projects across Ogun State, resisting the temptations of abandoning uncompleted projects initiated by your predecessor who did everything possible to thwart your ambition; for keeping all your electioneering promises as encompassed in the ISEYA and ensuring adequate security and peaceful coexistence among all ethnic groups across the state, the selection board found you most qualified as Leadership Governor of the year 2022.
Among past recipients of the award were President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, former Heads of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (Retd) and Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (Retd); and billionaire businessman, Aliko Dangote, among others.
