Popular Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has called for the release of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, who has been facing trial before the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
Edochie, who made the call via his verified Instagram page, urged the Federal Government to engage in a peaceful dialogue with the arrested IPOB leader.
The son of the veteran Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie, added that there will always be agitation from different quarters in a multi-tribal country like Nigeria.
He wrote: “Release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and call for dialogue.
“In a multi-tribal country like Nigeria, there will always be agitation from different quarters.

“To keep the country united and peaceful you should listen to your people, find out why they are agitating and resolve it peacefully. Not by use of force.”
Nnamdi Kanu has been facing trial before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja over charges of treasonable felony and terrorism.
The IPOB leader, who was granted bail in April 2017, had fled Nigeria after the invasion of his home in Afara-Ukwu, near Umuahia, Abia State, by the military in September 2017.
However, the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, on June 29, 2021, announced that Nnamdi Kanu had been rearrested and extradited to Nigeria to continue facing his trial.
Malami added that the IPOB leader was “intercepted” days earlier but did not disclose which country and how the operation was carried out.
