Adamu: Govs, ex-govs’ squabbles threatening APC

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has raised the alarm that the squabbles between serving and former governors are tearing the governing party apart.

Adamu, who spoke on Wednesday at the ongoing party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) in Abuja, accused the present and former governors of working at cross purposes.

President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, governors and other major stakeholders are in attendance at the meeting.

Adamu stated that the party’s constitution recognizes the state governors as the leaders of the party in their states, he however said there is no provision in the constitution for former governors.

Consequently, he said there is no dual leadership in the states.

In some states like Ogun, Imo, Kebbi, the governors are at loggerheads with their predecessors over the party’s structures.

The NEC will consider the mode of primaries, cost of nomination forms and timetable for the 2023 elections
