Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, has been released after he was arrested for taking brass knuckles through security at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York, United States.
The Star recalls that Adesanya, who lost his title by TKO to Alex Pereira on Saturday, was arrested by Port Authority police in the American Airlines terminal on Wednesday afternoon.
His release was however confirmed via a statement issued on Thursday by his manager, Tim Simpson.

Simpson stated that Adesanya has been released and has been flown to his home in New Zealand.
“Israel was handed a gift by a fan, which he put in his luggage. When flagged at the airport, Israel quickly disposed of the item, and cooperated with authorities.
“He has complied accordingly, with that, the matter was dismissed and he is on his way home,” he stated.
Adesanya, who hails from Lagos State, is a citizen of New Zealand and currently lives in Auckland.
