The aggrieved governors elected on the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, known as G5, say they met in Lagos State on Sunday to review the crisis rocking the PDP ahead of the 2023 general election.
The governors include Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu).
Speaking with newsmen after a meeting held at the residence of the former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, Bode George, in Lagos, Makinde said the aggrieved governors met to discuss their next action ahead of the 2023 general election.
He stated that the governors were the face of their struggle and were being backed by the leaders and elders of the party present at the meeting.
“The G5 is all about the Integrity Group. You can see us, five serving governors, as the face of this struggle but the leaders and elders of the party that you see here are the people behind those faces.

“We are this morning in the South-West to review the situation within our party, to review where we are, and to also look at what is going to happen in the coming election,” Governor Makinde said.
He further promised to brief Nigerians on the update at the end of their deliberations.
Also speaking, the former governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang, said the aggrieved governors are still open to consultations in resolving the crisis rocking the PDP ahead of the 2023 general election.
Others present at the meeting were former Governors Ayodele Fayose (Ekiti) and Donald Duke (Cross River), and PDP Deputy Chairman, Taofeek Arapaja; among others.
The aggrieved governors have since been calling for the resignation of the PDP National Chairman, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu.
They have insisted that it is unfair for the main opposition party to have the national chairman and presidential candidate from the northern region of the country, saying Ayu should resign his position for justice, equity, and fairness in the PDP.
The governors stressed that the PDP chairman, who is from the North-Central region of the country, should resign as a concession to the South.
