Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo has appointed his son, Babajide, as the Director-General of the Performance and Project Implementation Monitoring Unit (PPIMU).
Babajide’s appointment as the head of the PPIMU was announced alongside that of 14 commissioners.
By this appointment, Babajide’s PPIMU has to interface with every ministry or agency of government that execute/implement projects in the state.
Last year, Akeredolu had boasted that he could appoint his son as Chief of Staff and nothing would stop it.
“Truly, nothing stops the governor from doing that as his son is qualified to hold public office. But it is simply issue of morality. Unfortunately, morality is a scarce commodity in politics,” an influential member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) told The Star.
