Anambra JAMB candidate: I’m traumatised, I didn’t forge my UTME result

A student of Anglican Girls Secondary School Uruagu in Nnewi, Anambra State, Mmesoma Ejikeme, who was accused by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) of forging her 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result, has debunked the alleged manipulation.

Mmesoma, who claimed to have scored 362 in the 2023 UTME, was recently celebrated and awarded a N3 million scholarship by the Chairman of Innoson Vehicles Manufacturing Company, Innocent Chukwuma.

JAMB, however, on Sunday, July 2, said Ejikeme used software to manipulate her score to 362 as against 249.

Speaking on the allegations in a video obtained by The Star on Monday, the student stressed that she didn’t forge her result as claimed by JAMB.

She said: “My name is Ejikeme Mmesoma. I’m the owner of this result. I went to the JAMB portal to print this result and this is the result they gave me. This is my aggregate, 362.

“They scan the QR code on my result and it showed a Yoruba name — Omotola Afolabi who scored 138.

“The same Omotola scored 338 when it was rechecked and this evidence showed that there is a problem.

“This is exactly how I printed and downloaded it from their site. So saying that I forged my result is what I don’t know and I am traumatised that they accused me of forging my results because I’m not capable of forging my result.”

Ejikeme added that JAMB and the Department of State Services (DSS), after they were informed, failed to carry out an investigation on the matter before the board concluded that she forged her result.

The Anambra State Government had earlier announced that it had set up a panel of inquiry into the controversy trailing the highest scorer in the 2023 UTME.

The Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, who made the announcement on Monday, however, hailed Nkechinyere Umeh who was declared by JAMB as the highest scorer nationwide with a cumulative mark of 360 in the 2023 UTME.
