Anglican Diocese of Lagos West begins Annual Synod Thursday

The Annual Synod of the Diocese of Lagos West (Anglican Communion) will commence on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral in Lagos.

The four-day Synod will begin with an opening service which will be attended by Bishops of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Community) and other dignitaries.

This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Head of DLW Media Team, Tunji Oguntuase.

Oguntuase quoted Bishop Olusola Odedeji, who will preside over the first session of the 9th Synod, as saying far-reaching decisions to guide the Diocese will be taken in the business sessions.

Bishop Odedeji said: “Our Diocese has by the grace of God made remarkable progress in the past 25 years.

“We have no intention of relenting, and this Synod will set the agenda for the next three years and beyond.”

The cleric, after delivering his charge on Friday, is expected to examine the state of the nation and review progress made since the last Synod.

The Anglican Diocese of Lagos West was established in 1999 and has since maintained a pride of place in the Church of Nigeria and Anglican Communion worldwide.
