The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared Saturday’s governorship primaries in Edo State as inconclusive.
The APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said this while speaking with newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.
Morka said the decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja on Tuesday.
“The NWC deliberated on the report and resolved that the Edo governorship primary election has not been completed and has now fixed Thursday, February 22, for the completion of the primary election process,” he said.
Reps member Idahosa emerges Edo APC guber candidate
Imo State Governor and chairman of the Edo APC governorship primary election committee, Hope Uzodimma, had declared a member of the House Representatives, Dennis Idahosa, as the winner of the primaries.
Uzodimma, who announced the results of the primaries in Benin, the state capital, on Saturday, February 17, said Idahosa polled 40,483 votes to clinch the APC gubernatorial ticket for the September 2024 governorship election in the state.
“This is so therefore to satisfy that Honorable Dennis Idaho having scored the highest number of votes cast is hereby declared the winner of the primaries and is returned as the candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) for the coming election,” the governor declared.
