A delegate at the presidential primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Jigawa State, Isah Baba-Buji, has slumped and died in Abuja.

It was gathered that the delegate, who was the APC vice chairman for Jigawa Southwest, died while taking his breakfast on Tuesday.

The demise of Baba-Buji was confirmed by the APC spokesperson in Jigawa State, Bashir Kundu, noting that the delegate was pronounced dead while taking his breakfast and preparing to move to Eagle Square, the venue of the party’s presidential primaries.

Kundu added that the APC delegate’s remains were being prepared to be conveyed back to Jigawa State for burial.

No fewer than 2,322 delegates from the 774 local government areas of the country including the six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are expected to vote at the APC presidential primary election at Eagle Square.

Aspirants vying for the APC presidential ticket include Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; the party’s national leader, Sen. Bola Tinubu; Senate President, Ahmad Lawan; former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Sen. Godswill Akpabio; Governors Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), and David Umahi (Ebonyi).

Others are former Governors Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Sani Yerima (Zamfara), Rochas Okorocha (Imo); and the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

Others include former Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba; Pastor Felix Nicholas, the only female presidential aspirant, Mrs Uju Ken-Ohanenye; Pastor Tunde Bakare; Sen. Ajayi Boroffice;  former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole; oil magnate, Tein Jack; and a few others.
