The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has named the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as a member of the Bayelsa State governorship election campaign council.
The election has been slated for November 11, 2023.
The campaign council was released on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, by the APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu.
Wike’s name was number six in the campaign council that would be led by Gombe State Governor, Muhammed Inuwa Yahaya.

The 123-member campaign list also has Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, as co-chair
Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, are also listed as co-chairs.
The party also set up the campaign council for Kogi and Imo states.
For Kogi, the campaign council would be chaired by Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, who would be assisted as by Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Umar Bago (Niger), and Uba Sani (Kaduna) as co-chairs.
For Imo State, Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu is the chairman of the council who would be assisted by Hon Francis Nwifiru, Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, and the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, in the 138-member list.
The inclusion Wike, a chieftain of the opposition party, in the APC campaign council list would be a blow for the PDP as the incumbent governor of Bayelsa State, Duoye Diri, is seeking reelection on the PDP platform.
