The All Progressives Congress (APC) South-West Young Stakeholders Forum has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to appoint a youth from the region as the Minister of Youth Development.

The forum called for equitable representation for the South-West region, following the recent ministerial portfolio reshuffle which created a vacancy in the Ministry of Youth Development.

The slot for the Minister of Youth has yet to be filled following the deployment of Abubakar Momoh to the Ministry of Niger Delta.

Highlighting the distribution of ministerial portfolios in the Federal Executive Council, the forum, in a statement on Wednesday, stated that Ogun has three representatives, Lagos has two, and other states in the region – Osun, Oyo, Ekiti, and Ondo – each have one representative.

It noted that the list of youth stalwarts presented to Tinubu was carefully curated through extensive consultations, adding that the list of candidates was meticulously drafted based on principles of equity and justice, ensuring fair representation for each state.

The forum, however, urged Tinubu to consider appointing one of the young candidates presented to him as the Minister for Youth Development.

The forum further expressed its “unwavering faith in the capacity of the young individuals listed, hailing them as committed members of the APC who share a profound loyalty to the Renewed Hope agenda and the nation as a whole.”

The candidates listed by the APC South-West Forum are Makinde Araoye, Seun Olufemi-White, Ayodele Olawande, Bolaji Afeez Repete, and Oyekunle Oyewumi.

Others include Titilope Ayoka Gbadamosi, Ademola Adeyeye, Abdullahi Dayo Israel, Bayo Adenekan, and Dr Seriki Muritala.
