The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned the supporters of the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, against the campaign for the position of the party’s national chairman.
The APC said nobody was directed to declare the office of the party’s national chairman vacant, noting that the position is occupied by the former governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.
There have been rumours of Bello’s interest in the leadership position of the party after handing over to his successor, Governor Usman Ododo.
Bello’s posters also flooded the streets of Abuja, including the APC national secretariat on Monday, January 29, 2024.
However, the APC, in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, on Tuesday, January 30, said there is no vacancy in the office of the party’s national chairman.

Morka said: “There is no vacancy in the office of the National Chairman of the party. Our National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje is our chairman and he is operating as the chairman.
“So, there is no vacancy in that office. And yes, we have also seen some of those posters. This is democracy. People do what they want. But, make no mistake because the office of the National Chairman is properly and fully occupied.
“And we have absolute and total confidence in his leadership of the Party. Nobody is asking for that office to be declared vacant and it is not vacant. I will want to warn those who are throwing these papers around to desist from doing that.
“That is not our priority right now. We need to concentrate on the job that needs to be done to solve some of the problems that will make our country a better place for all of us.”
