The All Progressives Congress (APC) has clinched all 23 chairmanship seats in Saturday’s local government election in Benue State.
The Chairman of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), Richard Tombowua, announced the results in Makurdi, the state capital, on Sunday, October 6, 2024.
Tombowua said the APC won all 23 chairmanship seats and 276 councillorship positions in Benue State.
The BSIEC chairman stated that the election held in all the 5,102 polling units in the state spread across 276 council wards in the 23 local governments.
Ortom: God told me not to contest election in 2027
According to him, the results brought in by the 23 local government electoral officers showed that APC won all the seats, which were keenly contested by five other political parties.
He said: “A total of eight political parties participated in the elections, but in the field, only five participated, which are APC, APGA, LP, PDP, and SDP.
“There is no local government where there was a candidate returned unopposed; every local government election is contested the same thing with the ward council.”
