The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, on Friday, January 17, 2025, affirmed Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).

The Court of Appeal presided by Justice Hamma Barka relied on its judgement earlier delivered on November 13, 2024, in Appeal Number CA/Abj/CV/1172/2024 between Labour Party (appealant) against Olusola Nehemiah Ebiseni and INEC (respondents) to make the declaration.

The court declared that the two appeals heard on Friday – Senator Esther Nenadi Usman & others V Labour Party & others (CA/ABJ/CA/1217//2024 (2) INEC v Labour Party (CA/Abj/CV/1232/2024) – could not determine the leadership of the Labour Party having emanated from an incompetent suit as the trial court lacked jurisdiction to have determined the leadership of the LP and therefore a mere academic exercise.

Justice Barka, therefore, directed parties to the appeals and the general public to respect the judgement of the Court of Appeal delivered on November 13 which affirmed Abure as the LP National Chairman.
